Topic solution · Workplace

A workplace without
local configuration.

A thin client carries no configuration that has grown over the years and no locally installed program. It picks up the session from the server, is managed centrally and is back within minutes after a swap.

The challenge

Every PC is
its own special case.

A desktop machine that has grown over the years collects programs, drivers and exceptions. With many devices this creates just as many individual configurations that are hard to document.

01

No local data, no data loss

Applications and data live in the data centre. If a device fails, no work is lost, and the session continues on the replacement.

02

Configure once, valid everywhere

Profiles and policies are maintained centrally and distributed to all devices. An update does not require on-site visits.

03

Swap instead of repair

A faulty device is replaced, not analysed. The user signs in and carries on, within a short time.

04

A smaller attack surface

A lean, locked-down operating system without local installations offers far fewer points of entry than a Windows PC that has grown over time.

What is included

From the device
to the management console.

Igel OS Stratodesk NoTouch Open Thin Client Citrix Windows Terminal Server Linux
01

Choosing the devices

Which device suits which workplace depends on peripherals, screens and applications. We clarify that before procurement, not after.

02

Operating system and profiles

Igel OS, Stratodesk NoTouch or Open Thin Client, with profiles for departments instead of individual configurations.

03

Connection to the session

Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops or Windows Terminal Server, including sign-in, printing and USB peripherals.

04

Central management

Inventory, configuration and updates from one console, with a traceable state per device.

05

Peripherals that have to work

Dictation microphones, scanners, card readers and printers are part of the workplace. We test them before the rollout, not during operations.

06

Rollout and operations

Replacement in waves, user briefings and ongoing support under a maintenance contract.

Requirements & rollout

Start with
one department.

The usual entry point is a department with comparable workplaces. What works there becomes the profile for the rest.
