Topic solution · Virtualisation

Dictating inside Citrix and
terminal server environments.

Real-time audio across a virtualised session is technically demanding: latency, compression, USB forwarding. Our own virtual channel solves exactly that, in live clinical operation.

The challenge

Why standard audio
is not enough in a session.

Generic audio redirection compresses, delays and loses USB control commands. That is fine for a phone call, but not for medical documentation.

01

Real time instead of buffering

The virtual channel carries audio uncompressed and without noticeable delay, so the cursor keeps up with the voice.

02

USB commands arrive

The buttons on the dictation microphone, meaning record, pause and insert, are passed into the session without generic USB redirection.

03

Built for Citrix

The virtual channel runs in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp, XenDesktop) and on Windows Terminal Servers, in use in hospitals for years.

04

Low maintenance

One client plugin, one server module. Updates run centrally, there is no adjustment at every single workplace.
