eMODAT is Devacon’s answer to the call for a sectorindependent, flexible, and cost-efficient workflow management system. The formula of success? The multifunctional application is based on a classic client-server architecture which harmonizes perfectly with all standard mobile terminal devices and interfaces in the market. 'All kinds of companies from all around the globe are looking for a flexible software, which can easily be integrated into existing structures. And none of them wants to be dependent on their smartphones or the systems they come with', explains eMODAT project manager Marcus Heinrich.

First of all, Devacon supplies users with a basic system which comprises all server components for administration, forms and user management. At a later point – when the specific need arises – customers can add individual modules of their choice according to their specific requirements. 'eMODAT is a convenient and cost-efficient starting point for companies to venture out into the world of mobile data capturing. Customers exclusively purchase the packages they will effectively use on a regular basis.' The advantages are obvious: 'Comprehensive full versions tend to jack up the price while most of the customers do not even need all the modules that they eventually pay for.' The Devacon team installs the web-based application at the customer’s site. After an introductory training, it is the employees themselves who take care of the system’s configuration via the web browser.

Medium-sized company or global player: eMODAT adapts to any need that customers may have. Depending on the size and the field of activity, companies are free to choose individual features to be added to the application as well as the respective licences that they consider indispensable for their work. Field service engineers and hoteliers especially appreciate the Photo module while the healthcare industry is delighted by HL7 Integration into all standard hospital information systems. 'Companies that exclusively work with PDF or Excel files will find that the Data Export module is a superfluous luxury for them. Global players working with SAP will definitely think differently, though', elucidates Heinrich.

The opportunity to develop individual elements which go beyond the existing portfolio is a welcome challenge for the team, too. 'When customers approach us with an idea for a special feature, we check whether it may be of interest to other users as well. In this case we standardize the module and bear the majority of the development costs: a win-win situation for both parties.'
